The Skill Test
If you can write it as a checklist, it’s a skill.
Examples that pass:
- “Download invoices from email, rename with date, file to folder” --- Skill
- “Scan draft for AI-sounding phrases” --- Skill
- “Generate morning summary from calendar and tasks” --- Skill
Examples that fail:
- “Help me be more productive” --- Too vague
- “Answer questions about our household” --- Requires judgment
- “Draft content that matches my voice” --- Requires creativity
Those failures are agent candidates. But try skills first --- you’d be surprised how many “judgment calls” are checklists in disguise.
